Website design, viral marketing campaign
With a new web design we divided the microsite into separate areas of interest based on the different aspects of South African culture - food and drink, safari, outdoor adventure, Cape Town and Johannesburg. Each section included an overview, instant streaming video and a messageboard so that visitors could share their experiences and recommendations. This set the site apart from other brochure-type tourism websites.
The competition was a key focus of the microsite and the prize – a trip to South Africa – ensured the viral marketing campaign was a success, capturing consumer data and growing the client's database. In just two months, the website received over 16,000 unique visitors and almost 4,000 competition entries. Hundreds of people shared stories of their favourite experiences and helped to establish the microsite as a key resource in anyone’s South African holiday research.
