Kings College

Website design, content management system

The Client

Two years ago associated junior and senior schools joined under the umbrella brand Kings Schools Taunton and the marketing team began looking for new websites to better communicate the unique ethos and strong sense of community at the heart of the schools.

The Strategy

Wickedweb’s plan for was to deliver two websites – one for Kings Hall and one for Kings College – with a close tie between them, utilizing the same templates with a slightly different creative style but has dual roles as both an internal communications tool and an external sales tool. The site needed to communicate the quality of both the prep school and senior school quality, community and all round excellence. The website also needed to cater for the various different audience groups including existing and potential parents and students, teachers, support staff, governors. With capability and scope to add further enhancements and functionality later on when budgets allow.

The Solution

Focus groups were held at both schools to gain a clearer understanding of the messages that need to be communicated and the different requirements each audience has for the website. The design of the two websites needed to reflect association but not union of the two as not all pupils that attend the prep school go on to the senior school. The designs are similar in layout and style with the main contrast being the colour scheme.

The schools needed a simple CMS to provide key school administrators the ability to update the website content. A user friendly journey and online experience was a key consideration when building the site as it needed to give off the right message. It also feature an events calendar, photo galleries, interactive timeline, matches and fixtures, staff directory/ profiles and a head boy/ girl blog, to give the visitor a good introduction to the school.

The Result

At this time the Kings College website is live and has become a strong voice for the school and its pupils. The Kings Hall website is soon to go live so keep an eye out.
