British Marine Federation
Website design, Alterian content management system
The BMF wanted to present information in a clearer manner, making it as easy as possible for the business audience to find. They needed an improved user journey and wanted to offer members extra services and benefits online. In addition to improving the structure and website design, the BMF required Wickedweb to integrate the new website with their existing CRM database and with the Alterian Content Management System, allowing them to manage and update the content long-term.
Wickedweb developed a central portal to drive visitors across the suite of products and services offered by the BMF. We gave the website a fresh look and feel which is professional yet stylish, adding dynamic content and promotion of key events and initiatives. We integrated Alterian (Immediacy) CMS, a robust and established CMS system, to allow our client to manage the content within the templates we provided them, thus meeting the objectives of allowing in-house updates and helping to protect the integrity of the brand and online communications in the future.
Developing over 70 bespoke plug ins on the CMS, we have presented the BMF with a website that meets all its needs. Plug ins include an ecommerce system for the purchase of publications, a searchable 'what's on' calendar, member online bill viewing and payments, online surveys and a CV upload tool for job applications.
As a core resource and a focal point for the business boating community, we carried out a search engine optimisation set-up to ensure keyword search performance is maximized and work continues on the website to ensure it never stands still in the dynamic digital environment. New features in development include additional administration control for members and an archive of publications, news, press and job vacancies.
Working in partnership with our client, rather than simply as a supplier, has ensured that following this comprehensive site overhaul, the BMF website looks sure to become the ultimate one-stop resource for just about everything boating, with significant potential for further development and enhancement for the members. In addition to the federation website, we were appointed to work on the suite of National Boat Show websites, rolling them onto the same infrastructure and platforms we had developed for the BMF, including London and Southampton Boat Show websites and the Marine Experience website.
