Inside the industry and inside the agency
Wickedweb were invited by the Chairman of Gillingham Football Club, Paul Scally, to be guests at their match against Port Vale.
After suiting and booting, the team headed along to the Priestfield Boardroom for a spot of lunch and a couple of drinks ahead of the afternoon's entertainment.
Armed with a few choice cheers including "Man on", "Chase it" and "Ref!" we headed outside to support the Gills.

Now, usually accustomed to seeing 11-men jumping around the pitch at a football match, it was a pleasant surprise (for the gentlemen especially) to see 10-lovely ladies instead - the new GFC Gems; the official Gillingham FC cheerleaders, warming up the crowd with an energetic routine. Needless to say, this was a welcomed treat and everyone seemed in good spirits as the match kicked off.
Despite dominating the first half, the Gills came away with just the one point, after a second half penalty by Danny Kedwell brought the score line to a 1-1 draw.
Wickedweb had a great time and would like to thank Paul and the rest of the GFC staff for a fantastic afternoon.
Wickedweb have been working with Gillingham Football Club on creating their new website suites for the Priestfield stadium, the first of which will be going live over the next week - so watch this space!

Wickedweb are thrilled to become an approved digital supplier for Cancer Research UK
by Niki Duggan , Account Manager / Make a CommentWickedweb have recently joined CRUK’s team of suppliers to provide a range of digital services. We are working on lots of exciting projects to drive donations for this awe-inspiring charity, and look forward to rolling out the activity planned over the coming months.
We have started our relationship with CRUK by working with them on the Shine 2011 campaign. This inspiring event is a night-time walking marathon through your chosen city, to raise funds for Cancer Research. This event is in its 2nd year and fundraisers can choose one of 12 cancers they would like to donate their funds to. Participants are asked to ‘shine’ through their city route with glow sticks and can walk either a half or full marathon.
Wickedweb have created a portfolio of Flash banners for the CRUK website and third party websites. The call to action here is to click through to the Shine microsite and drive entries to the event.

The Wickedweb team are proud to be entering this event – with more details coming soon. We are in full support of this incredible cause and would encourage you to enter here.
In addition, Wickedweb has created banners in support of the new TV ad campaign which went live on the 18th July. The CRUK homepage banner has been updated to raise awareness and support this campaign, with a view to driving uplift in donations. Look out for these banners and show your support for their life-changing work....

With more and more businesses discovering the value of Social Media, it truly has become child's play!
Mattel are marking the 50th anniversary of their Barbie 'accessory' Ken, with a new social media campaign, titled - "Should Barbie take Ken back?"
Now for those unaware of the turbulent relationship between the couple, it seems a new lover Blaine challenged for Barbie's affections seven years ago, causing the couple to split after 43 years. However, following the filming of Toy Story 3, Ken is determined to win her back and is using a combination of Facebook and Twitter to send her messages and aim to win her heart.
But as silly as this may all sound, it appears to be a stroke of genius from the doll manufacturer.
For all those who grew up with Barbie and Ken as the perfect couple, the campaign seems set to pull on those nostalgic heartstrings and get you involved.
Ken has his own Facebook page and Twitter account which he regularly updates with statuses, photos, videos and more; encouraging users to offer advice on what he can do to 'woo' back Barbie and most importantly - creating discussion.
With over 25,000 'Likes' and already more than 4,500 followers on Twitter - it certainly seems that Mattel have found a hook and just goes to show how powerful a tool social media can be with a little creative thinking.
And should Barbie take Ken back? Well, it's up to you to decide!
